42 year old female. A fascinating and informative case. A beautiful and young woman who was questioned by friends and colleagues alike. “Why would you do this now?” “You don’t need this.” It's hard to argue it wasn’t worth it.
To answer these questions directly:
It is almost always better to operate on a younger patient than an older one. I realize I’m a surgeon, and biased, but I believe this is self-explanatory. Younger patients recover faster and better than older ones. Once the aging issues have arrived (in this case heavy brow, heavy lids, mild laxity in her lower face and neck and skin related damage) the patient is a candidate for surgery. WHEN the surgery is performed is based on the patient’s physical and mental preparation and the surgeon's confidence in delivering a natural and beautiful result.
The answer to the second question is equally simple. As anyone who has consulted with me regarding my work has heard from me, “No one ever NEEDS plastic surgery.” That extends not just to surgery but skin care, BOTOX, fillers, lasers, etc… No one ever needs moisturizer.
